The Magaliesberg Mountains are almost 100 times older than Everest and most of it are a protected natural environment.

The Crocodile Ramble Route

This region is a tourism extravaganza and accommodates everyting from treetop tours, balloon safaris and gliding to horseriding. You can also opt for picnic and camping areas, nature reserves, bird walks, 4x4 trails or a heritage tour.

The Crocodile Ramble is a route that has a variety of interesting products and services ranging from accommodation, restaurants, arts and crafts to conference venues and activities.

Part of the Crocodile Ramble is Hartbeespoort Dam, a much frequented resort area that attracts water sport enthusiasts in their droves for parasailing, windsurfing, water and jetskiing.

The Cradle of Humankind is a world heritage site. This ancient cave system has to this day, revealed over 850 hominoid fossils dating as far back as 3.5 million years.

Strange rockformations and Rustenburg

Mountain Sanctuary Park is a private nature reserve situated five hundred feet above the Grootfontein Valley. Its terrain is dotted with strange rockformations and is excellent for abseiling and rockclimbing.

Rustenburg ("Place of Rest") is one of the nine host cities of the 2010 FIFA Soccer World Cup and is also one of the fastest growing cities in South Africa. Just 10 kilometres away is the town of Kroondal with its flourishing German community.
