The Central Kalahari (Kgalagadi in Setswana) in the heart of Botswana
is characterized by vast open plains, saltpans and ancient riverbeds. Travellers to this area must be self-contained with all fuel, food and water and should only travel in groups of two or more 4x4 vehicles with basic spares and survival aids. Pass through the vibrant capital city, Gaborone, onto the Trans-Kalahari Highway which was an old cattle route and is now newly tarred and easily accessible in a normal vehicle. Journey into the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park a large ecosystem relatively free from human interference with large herds of Oryx and the famous Kalahari lions. You may enter from either Botswana or South Africa and enjoy all the facilities this great park offers.
