Swakopmund, founded in 1892, is Namibia's premier beach resort. The city is 1 of the best preserved examples of German architecture outside Germany. Twyfelfontein, meaning "Doubtful Spring", has one of the most extensive galleries of rock engravings in the world. They mainly depict animals and their tracks.
The Epupa Falls are one of Namibia's prime scenic destinations. The rushing water has a seasonal peak flow of more than 500 000 litres per second.

North west Namibia has the largest unfenced population of black rhino in Africa. "Save The Rhino Trust" has reduced poaching and the rhino population is flourishing.

Found in the north west, the Ana tree, (Faidherbia albida), with its cream flowers and nutritious pods, is an important source of food for the animals of the desert.

The Bare-cheeked Babbler is one of Namibia's near-endemic birds. Extremely vocal, they're found in small groups, feeding on the ground or sitting in trees.
