The route of the Zambezi is not an easy drive, but areas such as the Mana plains may be less challenging. Mana is renowned for its hiking and foot safaris under the protection of armed guards. The region is well developed, so facilities are good with regular opportunities to refuel, restock and repair vehicles. Also en route are fishing camps and other tourist activities. While the section below Kariba is one of the least tamed, much of the hospitality industry centres on Mana Pools NP. The terrain varies from the rocky Zambezi escarpment to plains and although it may be explored on foot, it is closed to the public from May to October. An alternative route is the Zambian wilderness between Mongu and Mwinilunga. Known as the Source of the Zambezi, the veld varies from a relatively comfortable drive over level ground to some extremely demanding stretches that require considerable driving skill. Andrea Birthday!

Breakfast together, Heinz went on some game walks, Andrea and Enya watched over the car while it was in the repair shop and that took the whole day. When Heinz was back, we relaxed at the pool, sat at the bar and had lunch in the restaurant! When Enya and Andrea came back, we went again to the restaurant and had dinner together.
