Highlights:

The Moremi was declared by the Tawana people in 1963, an act which was described at the time as a shining moment in African tribal history. Administered today by the Department of Wildlife and National Parks, it is a rich, fascinating area located on an extensive sandveld area, which includes Chief’s Island, in the northeastern part of the Okavango Delta, and it encompasses several different types of ecological zones.
Entry is controlled by two gates, one in the north and one in the south. There’s an entrance fee, and booking for campsites is essential. A system of roads provides what is essentially a circular drive, which enables you to experience the ecological diversity of the reserve. The drive passes through dense Mopane woodland, forests of giant acacia trees and, in places, skirts the edge of the Okavango, and there are magnificent views of floodplains, reed banks and open lagoons. Animal and bird life is prolific throughout the year but the drier months, from May to November, are best for viewing. At both entrances, and at various locations along the road, there are designated campsites. It is worth spending a least one night in this reserve but again, note that campsites must be booked and paid for in advance. Mekoro (traditional canoes, singular: mokoro) are not available for hire in Moremi.
You will see most game animals within the reserve, including lion, leopard, elephant, zebra, buffalo, lechwe and impala.
