Table Mountain Aerial Cableway, South Africa The best views of Cape Town are from the top of Table Mountain. Table Mountain Cableway gondolas can carry 65 people at a time ensuring minimal waiting periods.

Table Mountain Cableway takes you to the
summit in under ten minutes whilst rotating gondola's ensure that visitors enjoy a 360 degree view of Cape Town and Table Bay.

Once on top visitors can stroll along 2 kilometers of pathways and enjoy magnificent views from over 12 viewing sites and decks.

The Cableway began operating 1929 and to date has carried over 16 million visitors safely to the summit.

Over the centuries Table Mountain has become one of South Africa's most famous landmarks and a world heritage site.

The steep cliffs and rocky outcrops of the mountain play home to a number of plants and animals. The mountain is home to approximately 1470 species of plants that form part of the Cape Floral Region; more than the entire British Isles!

Facilities at the top of the mountain include:

  • Self service restaurant
  • "Shop at the top" selling gifts and curios
  • Areas available for private function hire
  • Wheelchair friendly pathways - information guide available at the top station

Please note:

  • The Cableway does not take bookings due to the fact that they are weather dependent and operate weather permitting
  • Weather information line: 021-424 81 81
  • The cable cars depart every 10-15 minutes, based on capacity
  • From 1 October 2005 - 31 September 2006: Adult return tickets will cost R 115.00
