The Elephant Lodge, South Africa

Have you ever slept close to an elephant? The Elephant Lodge is situated 9 kilometres west of Plettenberg Bay and allow guests to share our elephants’ accommodation with them.

During the day our elephants roam the property which is a free range controlled environment. At night they are pampered in their boma sleeping quarters.

The rooms of the Elephant Lodge have been built within the elephant boma. Some rooms have spa baths, some have views onto the elephant boma and others have private patios which overlook the dam and elephant grazing area.

Elephant carvings and gentle elephant images embroidered onto linen contribute a subtlety that are matched by framed image prints of the elephants. A communal patio with chairs and umbrellas overlooks the dam and elephant grazing area.

A stylish bedroom
The Elephant Lounge

The Elephant Lounge is a thatched area within the boma that overlooks the elephant stables. Subtle lighting and antique leather couches round off the ambience the elephants create.

We also have a bunkhouse with dormitory style accommodation which can take up to 76 people, ideal for sports teams, schools and backpackers.

Our restaurant has a sun deck that overlooks a dam stocked with water fowl, as well as a lovely playground for the kiddies.

As the evening wears on, the elephants lie down on their sawdust beds and the boma sounds slowly reduce. Where else in the world can you experience this? Please come and meet our gentle giants in the Knysna Elephant Park.
