The Meerendal Wine Farm is situated on the slopes of the Tygerberg Hills, 20 minutes from Cape Town city center near Durbanville in the Western Cape. Our gracious Cape Dutch homestead, is a landmark in the Durbanville area.
The legend of Meerendal's wine and bread began in 1702. More than 300 years later the mystery lives on through families and friends, who visit its grounds and join in the spirit of relaxed lunches, fine dining and celebratory events. |
Meerendal boasts seven cultivar wines and a blended red wine. The range consists of Shiraz, Pinotage, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Sauvignon Blanc, Chenin Blanc, Chardonnay and a Natural Sweet Chenin Blanc that completes the range.
A New range of Meerendal Prestige Wines were launched on the estate's 305 th anniversary (6 Feb 2007): Bin 242 Sauvignon Blanc (Barrel fermented) , Bin 159 Shiraz. |

The new range also include the exclusive Meerendal Heritage Block Pinotage 2005, made from grapes from the 50-year old Pinotage vineyard on the Estate. It is the most expensive Pinotage in South Africa, selling for R250 per bottle. Only 3600 bottles were made.
Meerendal's Merlot 2004 received the Trophy for the best Merlot at the Old Mutual Trophy Wine Show with a score of 94/100. This same wine was served onboard SAA's flights to all their first and premium class passengers.

The Meerendal Shiraz 2006 was awarded the SA Champion Trophy for the best SHIRAZ in South Africa at the SA National Young Wine Show in August. Meerendal was also the first recipient of the only National Certificate for PINOTAGE at the first Terroir Competition for the 2004 vintage.
Our newly upgraded estate also includes a brand new function center for 200 people and a marquee facility for functions up to 800 guests.
These facilities are complimented with a wedding chapel and a grand old Cape Dutch Manor House. The facilities are ideal for outdoor activities, picnics and other private or corporate events.
