Namibia's National Art Gallery houses
an outstanding permanent collection of Namibian and African, as well as
European art.
Selections from the local and international
artist community change regularly to enable the museum to have a full programme
of temporary exhibitions of paintings, works on paper, photography, sculptures,
textiles and other media. |
| They provide insight into the extraordinary
range of aesthetic production in this country, the African continent and
further afield.
The National Art Gallery of Namibia
is a permanent establishment set up for the purpose of promoting, conserving
and exhibiting Namibia's visual arts heritage to the public for its delectation
and instruction. |

One of the most important functions
of the National Art Gallery of Namibia is, the building up of a networking
system between government, educational institutions, non governmental organizations
working with visual artists and artist's groups. |
| The gallery is a cultural and public
place for art. It is the country's showcase of its visual art achievements
and collections.
We aim to further art appreciation,
promote art understanding and enhance creative sensitivity within the individual.
The gallery plays a major role in
developing the visual literacy of all Namibians. |
