Bayworld - Port Elizabeth Museum Complex, South Africa

Visit the Snake Park and Tropical House within the Port Elizabeth Museum Complex of our Bayworld, situated opposite the main beach in Port Elizabeth.

Our Snake Park crawls with a wide variety of exotic and indigenous snakes, from tiny adders to monstrous pythons, all housed safely in cages behind glass.

Learn to recognize the poisonous snakes in your area and enjoy a glimpse of the fascinating lives of reptiles and amphibians.

Follow winding paths through lush vegetation, across bridges and alongside streams and waterfalls in our Tropical House.

Also watch the endangered West African Dwarf crocodile lying semi-submerged in his pool, lizards basking warmly on rocks in the sun, tortoises slowly chewing their greens and enjoy the interesting colourful bird life.

Or visit our museum, a fascinating variety of historical treasures and curiosities will keep you intrigued for hours.

Marvel at the innovative display of beadwork and genealogies of the Xhosa speaking people of the Eastern Cape.

Among the museum's spectacular models and displays is a life size replica of the giant prehistoric Algoasaurus dinosaur that lived once in Port Elizabeth.

A visit is worthwhile for everybody and if you like the sea, come and visit our Oceanarium where you can see dolphins, sharks, seals and penguins.
