Royal Cape Golf Club is a true championship
course having hosted the South African Open no less than eleven times and
the South African Amateur Championships eight times. The most recent SA
Open held here was in 1996 and was won by Ernie Els.
In the years 1999 to 2002, the Club
hosted the Vodacom Player's Championship, the winners including Ernie Els,
Trevor Immelman and Mark McNulty. |
| We are in the southern suburbs of
Cape Town, a 15 minute drive from the city centre and from Cape Town International
Airport.
The Clubhouse was refurbished during
1998 and offers facilities which are matched by few clubs in South Africa.
The gracious colonial style of the main building has been retained and
every need of the golfer is elegantly and comfortably catered for. |

The course today is a fine test
of golf especially when the south easterly wind is blowing.
Essentially it is a flat parkland
course, well maintained and a pleasure to play with lovely views of the
Table Mountain range. The fairways are narrow and tree lined, demanding
accuracy off the tees.
Wayward shots are penalised by trees
and the greens are well bunkered. There is also plenty of water on the
course, particularly at the corner of the 3rd, 4th and 5th and also the
14th, 15th and 16th. |
| The most difficult holes on the
course are the par-4 third, at 435m the longest two-shotter on the course,
and the par-4 14th played into the teeth of the prevailing south-easter
with water guarding the right of the green.
The Club has a well stocked Professional
shop and lessons are available from our qualified professionals.
Visitors are most welcome. |
