Sugarbushhill Country Cottages, South Africa

Our three star establishment lies on the northern slopes of a peaceful valley in the Magaliesberg Mountain Range. Sugarbushhill Country Cottages are on the Rustenburg side of the range, about 50 kilometres from Hartebeespoort Dam and 30 kilometres from Rustenburg.

Slowly but surely, we are creating a natural haven where city folk can enjoy the peace and quiet of the Buffelspoort Valley. So take the scenic route and treat yourself to some clean country air.

All our units are set at the foot of a hill and each has its own barbeque area and patio with panoramic mountain views. Our cottages are built of stone found on the property and are fully equipped for a comfortable self-catering stay.

Our cottages come with linen, bath towels and a range of hotel amenities. Although it is a self-catering establishment, guests are provided with tea and coffee and our units are serviced daily. We have a swimming pool, which is essential for those hot South African summer days.

Swimming pool and trees

On our property we have identified and tagged a lot of indigenous trees. If you would like to brush up on your tree knowledge, bring along a tree book and spend some time looking them up.

We have put bird identification books in all our units, so birders must not forget their binoculars. Our birdlife is prolific and guests are welcome to explore the 8 hectares of indigenous bush surrounding Sugarbush Hill.

We are adjacent to a choice of marked hiking trails, which take you through kloofs with running water and some of the best scenery in the area. There is also a network of dirt roads crisscrossing the countryside which is excellent for mountain biking.

Buffelspoort Dam is only 9 kilometres from us and attracts fishermen, boaters and windsurfers in their droves. The bass fishing is reputed to be very good there. There are also stocked trout dams just across the mountain.
