Vrede en Lust is a modern winery, building on a viticultural heritage of more than 300 years.

Our winemaking philosophy is simple - to make wines of the highest quality, honest wines that reflect their terroir with minimal intervention in the cellar.

Susan Erasmus, our wine maker, was awarded Lanbou Weekblad Woman Winemaker of the year in 2007 during her first full harvest at Vrede En Lust. Key goals in the winery include elegance and balance in all of our wines.

The winery is committed to delighting the wine lover and wine tourist. As such, the winery strives to ensure that all the wines are available for tasting and purchase throughout the year seved by passionate staff.

Our Winery Plaza also offers visitors a magnificent venue, which may also be used for high end functions. This modern Africanesque facility seats up to 100 guests with dancing. The private balcony overlooks the vineyards and mountains and the award winning lighting creates the most perfect atmosphere.

Open Monday to Sunday from 10 am to 5 pm for tastings. Groups of more than 10 visitors by appointment please.

Cellar tours on regular schedule over weekends and peak holiday seasons or by appointment.

The award winning Cotage Fromage offers not only amazing dishes prepared by the acclaimed chef, Duncan Doherty, but also a deli with a wide range of cheeses, olive products, organic products and freshly baked breads.

Enjoy breakfast, lunch or cake as well as tea and coffee outside under the oaks in summer or in front of the fireplace in winter. Take-away picnic hampers may be ordered.

We also offer accommodation in two cottages and in our manor house, a beautiful building with foundations going back nearly 300 years.
