In the breathtaking Paarl Valley everything has a history and none more than the well known family of Abraham Pieter de Villiers.
The original Paarl Wine and Brandy Company, founded by Abraham Pieter de Villiers in 1856, was situated across the road from Zomerlust Gastehuis. Legend has it that an underground pipe linked the maturation casks in the cellar to a tap, where guests were entertained in a grand style.

The magical world of peace and tranquillity inherent to the estate, unfolds as one enters the back garden which seems to go on forever.
Sweet smelling roses and herbs, softly splashing fountains and a creeper-covered pathway leading to shaded arbours all doing justice to the name Zomerlust, roughly translated to summer pleasure.
Here you can enjoy the pleasures of al fresco dining or be treated to a proper South African barbecue. |
In close proximity expect to find a swimming pool, privately and attractively situated. Here you can relax and cool down after a day's sightseeing, surrounded by magnificent trees and sweet smelling plants.
There are excellent golf courses in the Zomerlust Gastehuis area, making it a prime destination for the golfing enthusiast.
